Aruba is a stunning Caribbean destination, offering the perfect mix of pristine beaches, vibrant culture, and endless sunshine. Known for its friendly locals, crystal-clear waters, and breathtaking natural beauty, Aruba has been a favorite getaway for travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure.

We finally had the chance to explore Aruba this past year. Just Dave and I visited and made a point to get out and see the adventurous side to the island — from the colorful streets of Oranjestad to the rugged landscapes of Arikok National Park and the tranquil, white-sand beaches.

Aruba at a Glance

Weather

Aruba enjoys warm, sunny weather year-round with average temperatures around 28°C (82°F). Trade winds keep the island comfortable, and it’s outside the hurricane belt, making it a great destination any time of year.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Aruba is from April to August, when most Caribbean islands face hurricane season, but Aruba stays dry and sunny. January to March is peak season, with higher prices and more crowds.

Currency and Tipping

Aruba uses the Aruban Florin (AWG), but U.S. dollars are widely accepted. Tipping around 10-15% is appreciated at restaurants and for good service.

Must Eat

Try local dishes like keshi yena (stuffed cheese), pastechi (savory pastries), and fresh seafood. Don’t miss a taste of Balashi beer and Aruba’s famous locally distilled rum.

Power Up

Aruba uses plug types A, B, and F, with a voltage of 127 V.

Language

Papiamento and Dutch are the official languages of Aruba, but English and Spanish are widely spoken, especially in tourist areas.

Popular Activities

Relax on Aruba’s famous white-sand beaches, explore the rugged terrain of Arikok National Park, snorkel in crystal-clear waters, and visit landmarks like the California Lighthouse and the natural pools.
