Weather: Portugal has a mild Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild, wetter winters. Summer temperatures average around 80ºF, especially in the southern Algarve, while coastal breezes keep things comfortable. Expect more rain from late October through March.

Best Time to Visit: Spring and fall are ideal for exploring Portugal with pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds. Summer is perfect for beach lovers and coastal adventures, though it’s the busiest (and warmest) time of year.

Currency and Tipping: The official currency is the Euro (EUR). Tipping isn’t mandatory in Portugal, but rounding up or leaving 5–10% in restaurants and for guides is appreciated.

Must Eat: Be sure to try Portuguese specialties like pastéis de nata, bacalhau (salted cod), grilled sardines, and francesinha. And don’t skip the local wine—especially port and vinho verde.

Power Up: Portugal uses plug types C and F with a standard voltage of 230 V.

Language: Portuguese is the official language, but English is widely spoken in major cities and tourist destinations.
