Staying in the Park

The first time I visited Arches, we camped in the park – and it rained so much that my hiking boots floated away. If you really want to immerse yourself in the park experience your only option is the Devils Garden Campground – there is no lodge in Arches National Park. Located at the far north end of the park road, right at the trailhead for the Devils Garden hike, this is one of the most coveted campsites in the entire National Park system.

The campground has 50 sites with fire rings, picnic tables, and vault toilets, and reservations are made through recreation.gov: sites fill up months in advance for peak season so book as early as possible. If you’re visiting in the off-season, a handful of sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Outside of Devils Garden Campground, all accommodation is based in Moab, just 5 miles from the park entrance and covered in detail throughout this guide.
